Community Leader’s Message

It time for the candy sales again.  This is an important event because our club must send to the county 4-H office $10.00 for each member we have.  This money helps with special events and awards and incentives.  You may also “op” out of the candy sale by donating $10.00.  The candy bars are only $1.00.  They will be at the March 4 Unit Meeting.

Also, be thinking about the fairs.  The entries and deadline are coming up.  Please talk to your project leaders for information and help.  The Field Day and Home Arts day coming up are great events to help you get ready for the fairs.  Our next Unit Meeting is March 4.   See you there.

Candy Sales

There will be candy to sell at the next Unit Meeting in March.  Our club must make a $10.00 contribution to the 4-H county office for every member we have.  This is done through the candy sale.  Please sell your box of candy and help our club.  You may also “op” out of the sale and make a $10.00 contribution to the county 4-H.  The candy bars sell for $1.00.  Any profit left over after the $10.00 per member contribution to the county 4-H will remain with our club.

Field Day

March 8 is a 4-H Field Day at the Lakeside Jr. Fair Grounds.  Check-in is 7:30 A.M. to 8:30 A.M.  Judging starts at 9:00 A.M.  All poultry will have a health inspection before check in.

A Field Day is a mini pre-fair so you can get education on your animal and practice showmanship.  Animals being shown at the Field Day are market beef, dairy heifers, breeding beef, market swine, market sheep, breeding sheep, wool breed sheep, market goats, wool breed goats, pygmy goats, rabbits, cavies, and poultry.  I listed everything so you could see what you can do and learn about in 4-H.  The fee is $3.00 for large animals and $1.00 for small animals.  Entries must be postmarked by February 29, 2008.  See your project leader for entry forms and information.
