Thank you everyone for attending the Ethic Training at the April Unit Meeting. I believe that one of the best learning experiences our young people learn from 4-H is how to do things right and to have good sportsmanship. The ethic training did stress that, and made the rules very clear.

Our next meeting will have the county veterinarian presenting slides and pictures of animal necropsies. I did want to warn people that there will be pictures of dead animals. Members of our group have seen the presentation and found it very educational and well presented. If you feel this is not something you want young members to see, please feel free to leave before the program begins.

All fair entries and monies were due to our club on April 1 at the April Unit Meeting. The entries will be turned into the fair on April 11. If you need to turn in entries, please contact Ginnie as soon as possible. Checks need to be made out to Jamul Chaparros 4-H. The dates of the fair are May 11 -18.

The San Diego County veterinarian will present slides and information at our May 6 Unit Meeting. Please plan to attend and bring a friend.

Nominations for next year’s offices will be presented at the May Unit meeting. All interested members are welcomed to run for office.

The dates for the San Diego County Fair at Del Mar are June 14 - July 6. Wristband passes and trailer and parking entries are due at the Unit Meeting on May 6.

Ethics Training for San Diego County Fair at Del Mar at April 1 Unit Meeting.

ALL animal exhibitors at the San Diego County Fair must be re-trained in ethics. This was done at the April 1 unit meeting. If you didn’t attend, please contact Ginnie and arrangements can be made.

Candy sales are over. If you haven’t, paid yet, there is still time to pay the $10.00 per member to the club to send to the county. Thank you to everyone who sold candy or donated $10.00 to the county 4-H.

If you suffered any losses from the October fires, please contact Ginnie Wadhams at. Losses include home, outbuildings, animal fencing and enclosure, and equipment. The 4-H county office has received donated money to help with losses from the fires.

The new hats, scarves, and ties are here. Hats are $9.00 each; scarves and ties are $8.00 each.

Scholarships are available for high school seniors and college freshmen. The Don Diego scholarship through the San Diego County Fair is available online at the San Diego County Fair site. I typed in San Diego County Fair and it came right up.

Wanted for next year, newsletter editor! The job requires some time the weekend after the unit meeting. Ms. Wadhams sends all the information to the editor and then the info is put into a template. It is easy and fun to do the clip art! Ms. Lindsey will help train the new editor. If interested, please contact Ms. Lindsey. This could be a great project for a high schooler!

Arts and Design Group

Cooking will be on April 6^th at 3:00 at St. Pius Church. Ali says you should join.

Computer Project

The Computer Project will meet on Sunday, April 6th. We start at 5:00 pm, at the Fletchers. Please join us and learn how we maintain our club’s web site. www.jamul4h.org.

Dairy Goats

Dog Project

Horse and Pony Project

We will meet April 12^th at Lawson Valley at 9:30. Horse show at Camp Pendleton on April 19^th and 20^th .

Livestock Project

Livestock will meet April 15 at the Wadhams’ house at 6:30 PM. The fair and buyer’s letters will be discussed.

Pygmy Goat Project

Poultry

Bring your showmanship animals. Catie Corle will work with us on showmanship on April 20^th at 2:00 at Mrs. Lindsey’s. We will also meet on May 5^th for one last time before the fairs.

Quilting Project

We will meet on May 1stfrom 6:30 to 8:30 at the Fletchers. We will be making a twist and turn quilt this year.

Small Animals

Bring your showmanship animals. We will have showmanship stations and knowledge forms to fill out. Catie Corle will work with us on cavy showmanship on April on the 20^th at 3:00 at Mrs. Lindsey’s. We will also meet on May 5^th for one last time before the fairs.
